There are currently 29 eighteen-hole golf courses in operation in the Algarve. With the opening of the new Oceanico Golf courses at the Amendoeira Resort in September 2008 (Oceanico Faldo and Oceanico O'Connor) this number will go up to 31.

In the Lisbon region, which includes the Costa Azul, West Region, Estoril / Sintra / Cascais, Sintra and Lisbon itself, there are 19 eighteen-hole golf courses.
topo3. How many golf courses are there in the Madeira Islands?
There are currently 3 eighteen-hole golf courses in operation - Palheiro, Santo da Serra (both on the island of Madeira) and Porto Santo (on the island of the same name).
topo4. What are the main golfing seasons in Portugal?
There are 2 main seasons for playing golf in Portugal. The first is between mid February and May and the second is from mid September to November. It is during these periods that courses in Portugal are at their busiest. In the Lisbon area, weekends are busy as this is when Portuguese players take to the courses. In the Algarve there isn’t any noticeable difference between weekends and weekdays as courses are mainly used by visiting foreign tourists.
topo5. Do Tivoli Hotels & Resorts have special prices at golf courses?
Yes, we do. Because our hotels are located in the main golfing areas of the country and due to the fact that we have several units in each of these areas, we have access to special prices for our guests. Although we do not have our own courses, we have developed excellent relationships with courses over the years (in the process also acquiring extensive experience in golf) so we can offer very competitive prices for our guests.
topo6. Do Tivoli Hotels & Resorts provide free shuttles to courses?
We have a shuttle service at the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura and the future Tivoli Victoria (where we will have a shuttle service to the Vilamoura courses) and at the Tivoli Lagos where we can organize transport for groups which play at the courses next to the hotel. Our other hotels in the Algarve, Lisbon and Madeira do not provide shuttles. At hotels not providing shuttle services, we advise clients to hire a car (we offer preferential rates through Europcar) or go by taxi to courses which are close to the hotel.
topo7. Where can guests rent / buy golfing equipment?
The vast majority of courses in Portugal have equipment rental services (clubs, buggies, trolleys). As a rule, courses do not rent footwear or golf balls. Shoes and balls can be bought at the club golf shop or other golf shops near the hotel or courses.
topo 8. Do Tivoli Hotels & Resorts have specialized golfing staff?
Yes, we do. A number of our hotels even have Golf Desks staffed by professionals who can provide all the assistance you need. They can make bookings, provide advice and help golf groups during their stay at the hotel.

Upon request, we are happy to organize tournaments / events for guests. Some of our hotels (for example the Tivoli Carvoeiro and the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura) organize annual tournaments and will continue to do so in the future.

The courses we recommend will depend on:
- Proximity of course (sometimes guests prefer to play on courses close to the hotel)
- Characteristics of the course (some guests prefer to play on links others on parkland)
- Price (how much guests would like to pay per round)
- Guest’s handicap (all courses have differing degrees of difficulty and we would not recommend the more difficult courses for guests with higher handicaps)

Yes, our Marketing Department attends many events around Europe. Some examples include Swingi (Finland), BMW Open (Germany), Mercedes Open (Germany) and some general fairs (not just specifically for golf) in important markets for this segment such as BTL (Lisbon), Matka (Finland), Holiday World (Ireland), TUR (Sweden), among others.

This service is on vans which hold up to 8 people and must always be requested at Reception or the Golf Desk at least 1 hour before your booked tee-off time. Pre-bookings cannot be accepted fro this service. For groups of more than 20 golfers, we recommend booking our private transfer service (supplement payable).

The new Tivoli Victoria is destined to be unique among hotels catering for golf in Portugal. Firstly, it has a dream location. There is no other hotel in the country which is within walking distance of 3 golf courses (Oceanico Victoria, Oceanico Millennium and Oceanico Laguna), it is also quite close to another 2. In the case of the Oceanico Victoria we are talking about one of the most highly regarded courses in the Algarve. It was designed by the living legend Arnold Palmer and has already held top events on the European Tour including the World Cup in 2005 and the Portugal Masters in 2007 and 2008. From 15 to 18 October 2009, it will be host to this important competition for the third consecutive year and the Tivoli Victoria is to be the official hotel. In 2008, the commission was welcomed by the Tivoli Marina Vilamoura, which only goes to prove just how dedicated we are to this important segment (golf). Moreover, the standards and services offered to golfing guests will be unparalleled. The entire hotel has been designed with golfers in mind.

No, but the hotel is right next door to all 5 Vilamoura courses (3 of them less than 400 metres from the hotel – the Oceanico Victoria, Oceanico Millennium and Oceanico Laguna) and we also have excellent conditions at these courses including special exclusive packages for our guests. In addition to these courses, the hotel also has special prices at all other Algarve courses.

As 3 of the courses are so close, transport isn’t necessary in these cases. For the other Vilamoura courses (including Vila Sol) and also Oceanico Faldo and Oceanico O'Connor we operate a free shuttle for guests.
